SimpleAAWS 1.0.3 released

As all requests to the Amazon Product Advertising API (formerly Amazon Associates Webservice) have to be signed since August 15th we updated SimpleAAWS and also the outdated com_aaws component for Joomla.

Customers may have already noticed that their SimpleAAWS and com_aaws installations are not working any more so please update as soon as possible.

Customers who use SimpleAAWS only have to update SimpleAAWS itself but not the components using it (like com_simpleaaws for Joomla, the standalone app or the wordpress plugin).

Hi Guys

I have to say the overall concept of AAWS is great however for a share of the affiliate sales I'd really like a proper manual which delves into the different files and their functions I am a bit dissapointed in the customizability and the problems that occur thereof. I find however to run this system to actually get some sales and depend on it you need to provide more laid out information and options.

For example you point out that nodes cannot be specified, why not? When you check browsenodes.com they give you the node information etc for all the items you require, how is it that we can't use the node information (admittably only for the US amazon.com) when we put it into the browsenodes.csv? Why is SimpleAAWS removing the category if you rename it rather than listing it without any products until the search has run? Why can't you pull the category/subcategories by utilizing the actual nodes id and name? In theory by the way your script is laid out if i were to enter the category (or subcategory thereof) followed by the node it should pull this information from amazon (ex: Television;163450) yet it seems that SimpleAAWS ignores the statement right away.

Let me know if you have a simple fix for that or not, otherwise its almost simpler importing the Amazon AWS product CSV everynight through a cron job.

Und nun auf Deutsch, im guten und ganzem ist dieses program eine super idee aber mal im ernst, ohne gute dokumentation, einmal in Deutsch und in Englisch ist es beinahe unmoeglich dieses script zu customisieren.
Ich mag dieses script aber viele der kleinigkeiten welche es einem ermoeglichen eine gute online presenz zu erstellen fehlen irgendwie in diesem script. Eines der probleme zum beispiel ist das es nicht moeglich zu sein scheint eine bestimmte Kategorie zu laden ohne die hauptkategorie zu haben. Browsenodes.com zum beispiel gibt einem die moeglichkeit die bestimmten Kategorien zu finden mit allen notwendigen daten allerdings wenn man diese in die browsenodes.csv eingibt passiert nichts und wenn man den code alleine aka Television;163450 eingibt wird die kategorie auch nicht angezeigt.

Hier sind mal ein paar kleine tipps ich arbeite in der Online und Elektronik industrie als Berater seit knapp 10 Jahren und Ihr braucht ein vollendetes Forum in welchem sich die benutzer euerer Software selbst beraten koennen. Dies kann den zeitverlust an beratung und veraenderungen reichlich reduzieren. Ausserdem gibt dies dem Kunden (welches die benutzer ja sind da sie sobald dieses script installieren einen teil ihrer provision an euch abgeben) ein gefuehl von verlass auf euch und andere kunden welche vieleicht bestimmte probleme leicht loesen koennen.

Euere Webseite ist ausserdem zu sehr auf Deutsche besucher gestimmt, d.h. das die suche nach informationen fuer nordamerika, sued amerika, england, frankreich, afrika und asian sehr schwer ist. Vereinfacht die navigation, bringt die produkte in den vordergrund und lasst den kunden nicht erst 4 seiten durchsuchen bevor sie zu der software kommen. Alte produkte sollten auch nicht im vodergrund stehen, und wenn ihr "alleinstehende software, sowohl wie auch joomla und wordpress addons anbietet" dann ist das ein grosses feature auf welches ihr bauen muesst. This is possible. You can remove a category if you do not want to use it. You can also change the starting node id.

No, the categories are not ordered strictly hierarchically at amazon, so I think it is not possible. You can only get them by browsing my site for example.

This has a lot of potential but the customization seems limited or documentation sparse.

I think many might use your solution with deeper documentation and customization so we can build a true niche store.

I would glady give 5 stars if the customization was available but I need to adjust the appearance and have some control over menu names and where they go, catergories. I think you can do most of what I asked but I don't have days to experiment exspecially when sharing 6%.

That said, this has a lot of potential and I don't mind sharing the wealth if this works well and support is professional otherwise hiring a programmer is a better solution.

What is the current feature set and expected?
Can you provide syntax examples?
