After downloading the package you unzip the archive to separate directory. To configure your Amazon Affiliate-ID and some other settings you must edit the file aawsconfig.xml in the subdirectory config with a simple text editor of your choice. This file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> In email you enter your email-asdress, in sendmail you decide by typing y or n if you want to get an email when a visitor of your site makes a checkout. In associatetag you define your Amazon Affiliate-ID. In locale you enter, which Amazon country you want to connect with. Possible entries are US, UK, DE, CA, FR uánd JP. At least you define in language the language in the frontend. Standard values in version 1.0 are en or de. Save this file after you have done your configurations. Afterwards you transfer the whole directory to your webserver per FTP/SSH. Thats it, just SimpleAAWS. Possibly you have to check if the webserver has write access to the subdirectory cache. You should not install SimpleAAWS in a directory of your webserver that is publicly accessible. That is not neccessary for running SimpleAAWS. To use SimpleAAWS then you need another component that integrates SimpleAAWS. For now we have a component for Joomla and a standalone application. Components for ohter popular CMS systems follow. You find the components in our download section. |

Installed SimpleAAWS one level above public_html folder, set up ioncube (took a little longer than usual, but I've done it before on other servers).
It's working fine. But I don't care about the many categories, I just want books ins pecific categories like you do on the Demo module on the left of this site, i.e., Joomla Books. I want to do multiple categories for Advanced Materials with topics such as abrasives and nanotechnology, and to make it easy to manage. That is, I don't want to write links by hand when I could just submit a list of the correct Amazon categories... and display them on the first page.
Can this be done?
Just to know if it is possible to enter several language settings in one xml config file, assuming that I have one ID for my French amazon astore/affiliation, and another one for the US amazon astore/affiliation?
Maybe you find a hint checking the installation instructions in our new wiki under: http://affilimania.net/wiki/Howto_install_SimpleAAWS

if you entered the path /public_html/mysite/cgi-bin/SimpleAAW then I think an S is missing at the end ...
