How to install SimpleAAWS? PDF Print E-mail

After downloading the package you unzip the archive to separate directory. To configure your Amazon Affiliate-ID and some other settings you must edit the file aawsconfig.xml in the subdirectory config with a simple text editor of your choice. This file looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<aawsconfig>
  <email> This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it </email>
  <associatetag>affilimaniane-20</associatetag>
  <sendmail>y</sendmail>
  <locale>US</locale>
  <language>en</language>
</aawsconfig>

In email you enter your email-asdress, in sendmail you decide by typing y or n if you want to get an email when a visitor of your site makes a checkout. In associatetag you define your Amazon Affiliate-ID. In locale you enter, which Amazon country you want to connect with. Possible entries are US, UK, DE, CA, FR uánd JP. At least you define in language the language in the frontend. Standard values in version 1.0 are en or de. Save this file after you have done your configurations.

Afterwards you transfer the whole directory to your webserver per FTP/SSH. Thats it, just SimpleAAWS. Possibly you have to check if the webserver has write access to the subdirectory cache. You should not install SimpleAAWS in a directory of your webserver that is publicly accessible. That is not neccessary for running SimpleAAWS.

To use SimpleAAWS then you need another component that integrates SimpleAAWS. For now we have a component for Joomla and a standalone application. Components for ohter popular CMS systems follow. You find the components in our download section.

Multilanguage and own categories ...

These two ideas are added to the list of feature wishes for one of the next releases. Specifying categories is even nearly ready, but needs a finish.
Installed flawless, but would like to set up my own categories

No problem integrating with Joomla.

Installed SimpleAAWS one level above public_html folder, set up ioncube (took a little longer than usual, but I've done it before on other servers).

It's working fine. But I don't care about the many categories, I just want books ins pecific categories like you do on the Demo module on the left of this site, i.e., Joomla Books. I want to do multiple categories for Advanced Materials with topics such as abrasives and nanotechnology, and to make it easy to manage. That is, I don't want to write links by hand when I could just submit a list of the correct Amazon categories... and display them on the first page.

Can this be done?

Hi there,

Just to know if it is possible to enter several language settings in one xml config file, assuming that I have one ID for my French amazon astore/affiliation, and another one for the US amazon astore/affiliation?

There is something wrong with your path. There are whitespaces, letters that should be capital letters and are not or something like this. It works on many other installations. By the way, the cgi-bin directory is not the best choice for SimpleAAWS. You should use a publically not available directory and cgi-bin is mostly a public one.

Hello, it should work as you decribed your installation. The message points to the fact that there is a problem with the path you entered. Please check if you have whitespaces or something like this in the path. Another hint that I can give you is to check if all letters that should be capital letters are capital letters in your path.
Not work!
